Aerospace

GLSV provides complete, customer-specific solutions for sound, vibration, and shock problems in the North American defense market. We have a growing history of supporting Aerospace platforms through engineering, design, analysis, prototype testing, and production. Our broad technical experience drives us to consider the tradeoffs from the customer perspectives. This allows us to deliver optimized, winning solutions in challenging industries. We choose to work in difficult markets, and take on the tough challenges. We support powertrain integration efforts for hybrid and mechanical powertrains; exhaust system development; acoustic signature management; custom development of shocks, struts, and dampers; custom high-performance fans; and APU exhaust development.

Powertrain Integration

GLSV supports engine development efforts through custom exhaust and intake development, engine component design and build, reverse engineering, and engine calibration and tuning. Our in-house modeling and simulation tools allow us to optimize an intake or exhaust system to manage the airflow and backpressure, thermal, and acoustics. Our designs always take into account the overall engine performance; for example, a properly tuned exhaust is critical to optimizing the engine power output.

Our in-house dyno cell can accommodate heavy fuel, diesel, and conventional gasoline engines from 2 hp up to 700 horsepower. Our expertise includes 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines. Our engine test facility can provide and absorb high-voltage DC power and multiple AC frequencies and voltages (50, 60, and 400 Hz).

As part of our engine development efforts, GLSV also engineers and builds custom mounts, torsional couplings, and other components.

Custom Engine Mounts

Our dyno cell and test lab capabilities allow us to fully support qualification and validation testing of our designs.

Unmanned Aerial Systems

Exhaust Systems

GLSV supports exhaust system development for Group 2 and Group 3 UAS (unmanned aerial systems) for US DoD applications. Our expertise includes 2 and 4-stroke engines, heavy fuel, and rotary applications. We design and build exhaust systems to increase power and reduce noise, and manage the thermal and airflow performance. Our exhaust systems are engineered to perform in the most demanding environments for durability and fatigue life, and we use our suite of advanced software tools to simulate shock, vibration, and thermal loading for fatigue life predictions.

Space and weight are always at a premium in UAS applications, and we design our exhaust systems using lightweight and high-performance materials such as Nickel alloys, titanium, and stainless steel alloys. Our custom solutions will meet tight space claim requirements and accommodate complex transitions, with the ultimate goal of designing a durable, qualified exhaust system that is easily manufactured and producible.

For APU exhaust systems, GLSV will also manage the mechanical interfaces, sealing, and electrical interfaces (e.g. for actuator doors, etc.).

GLSV is a value-added supplier for Aerospace products.
