GLSV recently received a SBIR Phase-II contract from the US Navy to continue development of an efficient depth control system for an acoustic device countermeasure (ADC). The ADC acts as a decoy in the event of an enemy torpedo attack on US Navy submarines. The ADC emits an acoustic signature that mimics the submarine and draws the enemy torpedo away from the boat. GLSV’s new depth control mechanism will minimize energy consumption to enable increased performance of the acoustic source while the ADC is deployed. GLSV is developing this technology under SBIR topic N191-023.
