GLSV was awarded a contract from NASA through the Small Business Innovation Research Program (SBIR). The SBIR program is a US government funded program, coordinated by the Small Business Administration and is intended to help small businesses conduct research and development through contracts and grants.
The objective of this particular effort is to produce a low-cost, adaptable test bench for rapid testing of noise treatments on a wide variety of aircraft propulsion platforms. The bench is capable of emulating many aircraft propulsion platforms at different engine operating conditions, as well as generating diagnostic noise signatures which can aid in the characterization and calibration of aircraft noise treatments.
