Motion Analysis

CAD Model Simulations GLSV uses the Motion Analysis feature in SolidWorks to perform CAD model motion studies. Studies can be conducted to analyze how a component or assembly moves due to forces and/or motion drivers. This is useful for determining range of motion and detecting part interferences.

Kinematic and Dynamic Analysis

GLSV can perform both kinematic and dynamic motion analyses. Kinematic analysis can show how your model moves due to applied forces and predefined motion drivers. Dynamic analysis will give the forces generated by the movement of a part or assembly. Both types can be solved using either time-based motion or event based motion. Outputs from motion analysis include:

  • Range of motion
  • Part displacement and tracing
  • Part clearance and interference
  • Linkage mechanism behavior
  • Part acceleration and velocity
  • Suspension travel optimization
