GLSV awarded Air Force STTR contract for active noise control of rotor blade noise.

(Commercial eVTOL drone: “Wingcopter” 178 HL)

GLSV has been awarded a Phase I STTR from the United States Air Force. Our proposal for this topic to create active noise control (ANC) of rotor blade noise was reviewed and selected to move forward.  We aim to integrate carbon nanotube thermophone thin-film into the rotor blade design of next generation unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV).  This technology was initially proven to prevent ice formation on aircraft and it can also be used as a novel acoustic source, manipulating airflow boundary layers to actively cancel propeller generated noise with negligible space and weight penalty.
